Tip Tuesday: Mixing and Matching Patterns

Hey guys! I have been insanely busy with school and work which is why I haven’t been able to post as much. Today I’m sharing tips on how to mix and match patterns which is really easy once you get the hang of it. I’m sharing some of my favorite posts on mixed outfits, tips, and an outfit from Polyvore. Let’s get started!

Make sure there is at least one common color between the top and bottom

Stripes and leopard prints are great prints for mixing! They go with just about anything

Pick colors that either compliment each other (opposite on the color wheel, such as green and red) or are in the same family (lavender and plum)

Same print in different sizes (small stripes + big stripes) work well together as well

Graphic tees are great for pairing with patterned bottoms!

Polka dots and floral are fun to mix together, try a polka dot skirt and floral blouse!

Add a neutral-colored accessory (like a bag, scarf, etc) to tone down the patterns.

Mixing Patterns

I think this is one of my favorite outfits from Polyvore I’ve shared with you guys. I took some of the tips from above (like having one color to match). I am obsessed with these heels by Ivanka Trump. The tan is a gorgeous spring neutral color and works with just about any outfit (also, suede). Oh, and the skirt is so pretty, I love floral! Just make sure not to get the white cross body dirty 😉
