summer glow.

Once it gets warmer here in Wisco, I try to have a lighter makeup look because I feel like it’s melting off once I step outside (HA!). Highlighter and blush are two of the most important products for a summery glow. I grabbed a few new highlighters from Sephora over the past few weeks and once that’s really bomb is the ‘Champagne Pop’ from Becca. It adds the perfect amount of glow without looking shiny (v important).

Like I said, simply is key. A little bit of eyeshadow (glitterrrr) my trusty ole brow wiz, and some light foundation. Even though people are l o v i n g  a dewy finish for foundation, I can’t stand it so I always go for a matte finish. To add some glow to my face, I apply highlighter. If you don’t own highlighter, buy some! I’ve got a few amazing products that I’ve been using + some my good blogger friend Brittany recommends. What are your favorite highlighters you own?

Stila Eyeshadow in Kitten (left)

As you can see, I’ve sadly hit pan on this beauty, which is devastating, but I will undoubtedly be buying another one once this is finished. I found this highlighter whilst asking the staff at a makeup store what they would recommend, and they pointed out this. I was hesitant at first because it’s technically an eyeshadow and I had never heard of using eyeshadow as a highlighter. After doing some research, I decided to give it a try and wow was I blown away.

The color is a pinky-cool-toned-champagne (my descriptions aren’t the best, but you get the gist) and it’s by far my favorite highlighting shade. Also, let’s take a moment for the pigmentation!! I thought I would run out of this way quicker than I actually did, but you only need a tiny bit to create the perfect glow, so it has lasted me very well.

If you’re looking for a BAM highlighter that’s basically shimmer, then this is it!

MAC Soft and Gentle Skin ‘Mineralize’ Skinfinish (middle)

On the contrary to the Stila Kitten, this highlighter is subtle and deadly. It’s my go-to on days where I am not feeling so bright, and want something a little less dramatic. It sits beautifully on my cheekbones, and you can catch a glimpse of it every now and again.

Another major bonus of this is that there is SO much product. I’ve had this since December and it’s barely looked like I’ve dented it.

Becca Champagne Pop (right)

If you haven’t heard of this, where have you been? This is probably one of the most talked about highlighters recently and for all the right reasons. I was apprehensive since a lot of highly popular products aren’t exactly worth the hefty price tag, but I can confidently say this highlighter was worth every single cent.

It’s a beautiful champagne color (as the name suggests) and it very warmed toned, almost golden. It’s the only highlighter this color that I own, and I love it. It compliments so many different makeup looks and skin tones. You can’t go wrong with this highlighter!

I know that these 3 highlighters are on the more expensive side of things, as I am still yet to find a drugstore highlighter that shines as bright as these do. So if you have any suggestions, leave them in the comments and I’ll definitely go try them out!

Sephora Illuminating Drops

I grabbed this from Sephora when one of the employees recommended it for a rosy pink glow, instead of a neutral/nude tone. Not only is it incredibly affordable, but a little goes a long way. It’s very simple to use and it gives you the perfect amount of glow without being empowering. It comes in three different shades, but I prefer Starlight (pink) over the other two tan shades!

I love when ladies go lighter on their make up. I’m not skilled in that department so my look is very light.

I like adding liquid highlighter to my foundation for an all over glow. The Becca Backlight Primer is also one of my favorites. I like to give my dry skin a dewy look even when the weather warms up.

I certainly agree with you that light makeup is best during the summer. It’s just too hot and humid to have too much on!
