Hello lovelies! My first interview with another blogger, does this count as a blogging milestone? Yes, yes it does. I contacted Olivia to see if she’d be interested in answering some questions to share on my blog. I found her through the wonderful feature I have taught myself to do on social media called stalking. It’s become a very popular feature of mine since blogging, I’m not even going to deny it. Although, I’m very careful once I get down to 47 weeks, don’t worry. Thank goodness for the explore feature on Instagram, what would I do without you? Anyway! One of the main reasons I love blogging so much is because I get to meet other ladies I would never be able to meet, and it was so much fun being able to learn more about Olivia and her blog!
1. What’s the backstory of your blog, Miss Olivia Says?
I started my blog in 2011, which a girl I was friends with in high school! I always was intrigued with blogging and loved watching YouTube beauty and fashion gurus so I decided to try out blogging. I had no idea what I was doing at first and have changed my URL so many times since then. It was until this past summer when I finally decided to brand by blog and treat it like a part-time job!
2. How would you describe your blogging style?
I’d say I am more of a lifestyle blogger. Originally, I was strictly fashion and beauty but I have since ventured out into the lifestyle realm. I honestly don’t even know what being a lifestyle blogger means… but I try to write content I am passionate about whether that is a product I really like or advice on how to rock an interview.
Maybe this help from the one and only Google: “A lifestyle blogger creates content inspired and curated from their personal interests and daily activities.” 😉
3. Where would you like to be in blogging 5 years from now?
I really hope that in 5 years Miss Olivia Says has grown even more and perhaps turned into a full time job. I am graduating in 3 weeks and then starting a grown-up job so I think I will focus on that for awhile but also start working on growing my blog.
4. Who is your fashion icon?
This is probably really weird, but my fashion icon is a clothing store. I absolutely LOVE Mura Boutique, which is a clothing store based out of Australia. I follow their Instagram and I don’t think I’ve ever not wanted an outfit that one of the models was wearing.
5. What is your favorite social media app?
Instagram. I’m probably like every other 21 year old college student, but I love going to the explore page and finding new inspiration for outfits, food, blogging ideas, or even cracking up at hilarious text posts!
6. You’re heading to the farmers marking early Saturday morning, what do you wear?
A romper for sure!! Assuming it’s spring time or summer, I would definitely throw on a cute floral romper and maybe a floppy hat. I feel so put together and trendy when I wear rompers. Plus, if you’re planning to check out a farmers market on a vacation, rompers are so easy to pack!
7. If you could only wear one pair of jeans, what pair would you pick?
I’d have to say a pair of Lucky Brand Olivia High-rise jeans! Not just because they are called ‘Olivia”, but they’re also adorable and I love pairing high-waisted jeans with a cute crop top.
8. What makeup item can you not leave the house without?
My eyebrow pencil. I used to be so self-conscious of my big bold eyebrows! Once I finally learned how to pluck them, I also started shaping them with an eyebrow pencil and my LIFE CHANGED! I currently have been using the Anastasia Brow Wiz and it’s magical. It doesn’t matter if my hair is a mess and I am wearing sweats, I feel 100% more put together when my eyebrows are on fleek.
9. Go-to hair style?
Loose curls. I have been doing this hairstyle since high school and nothing has changed!
10. If you died your hair a crazy color/style, what would you do?
I always wanted to try dark brown on my hair. I have blue eyes so I have always been tempted to try it out to make my eyes pop!
11. If you could only shop at one store (or brand), who would you pick?
Wow this is hard… I’d have to say Nordstrom. Just because they have so many brands and different styles all under one roof!
12. What is one makeup or hair styling trick you wish you could master?
Countouring. I’ll be trying to countour and think I did an amazing job, then I go into different lighting and I look like a clown…
13. What was you biggest fashion or hair fail?
OH MY GOD! When I was in third grade I started gelling my hair back into a ponytail. I thought I was so trendy and for a little bit some of my friends where catching on until they finally got some common sense. I proceeded to do my hair like that until 5th grade.
I think I laughed for a good 10 minutes at this 😂
14. What is your biggest pet peeve?
Flakey people! I absolutely hate when I make plans with someone and they cancel at the last minute. Things come up, but I have had friends who do this constantly and it drives me insane.
15. One piece of advice you could give your 18-year old self?
Time flies. I am about to graduate college and it feels like just yesterday I was 18 and moving 9 hours away from my family. Appreciate the little things like laughter with your friends and family because it all goes by too quickly.
