My Favorite Playlists + Music Accessories

Awhile back, I wrote up a post of all my favorite Spotify music playlists and it’s still one of my more popular posts! But unlike that post, I’m also sharing my favorite podcasts plus some great accessories to pair with your music as well. I listen to a ton of music which makes my most used app Spotify. I have this weird thing were I can’t go to bed unless I have music playing in my ears. And I’m not talking bedtime, calming, relaxing. It’s literally rock, pop, country, anything and everything. Which brings up another point, I listen to all sorts of genres. Currently, I’m into Christmas music (obviously) but I also love country and rock. Oldies and jazz are some more favorites! Needless to say, my homemade playlists are cray. Anyway, I thought it was due for some new music playlists because: 1) MUSIC and….2) I have so many favorite music accessories that need to be know. Now GO, be inspired 😉

Before we get into the most bomb-diggity playlists, let’s talk about accessories. I try to listen to my music/podcasts through a speaker whenever I’m home, and this one from Bose is perfect! It also makes a great Christmas present. It has amazing sound and hooks up via Bluetooth. I also have a waterproof speaker that I use in my shower because that’s not weird 😉

Another must have accessory are these headphones from Sudio. They sent me them a few weeks ago and I’ve been dying to share them with you because they’re the best headphones ever. I’m serious. Not only are they totally gorgeous (you can’t go wrong with rose gold and white), but they reduce outside sound like a boss. I prefer to do most of my work in coffee shops which tend to be pretty loud and I can barely hear any of the noise. Another awesome feature is that they’re bluetooth which makes moving about really easy. They come in a fancy leather case and you can get them in 4 different colors. Plus, there are 4 different ear sleeves in case you have tiny ears. You can get 15% off with my code: ‘LydMonson’

Enough about accessories (although I can’t and won’t stop about those Sudio headphones), let’s get into some playlists.

It’s after Thanksgiving which means you can’t be judged when you’re jamming out to Christmas music. I don’t know about you, but Christmas music is one of my favorite genres to listen to. Maybe because I really only listen to it during December but I love the classy vibe. That and I know all the words to 90% of the songs, so I can actually sing along (instead of being  Mr. Bean). This playlists contains the best of the best.

If you’re into the calm and relaxing type music, this playlist for you. And even though I love some good rock n roll, this playlist has some really pretty songs! I love to listen to this when I’m cooking or baking or reading a good book. My favorite song is Sleep On The Floor by The Lumineers, can’t stop playing it!

This is the playlist I listen to when I’m working out or writing a blog post. Upbeat, happy, and catchy. Although it doesn’t provide any country or rock music, it has a lot of acoustic-pop type songs which I still love.

I look forward to Monday’s solely because of the fact that my Discover Weekly playlist is being updated. Seriously. One thing I don’t like about this playlist is that sometimes it’s amazing (like last week) and other times I’m like, Spotify you really think I’d like this song? What were you thinking? The Discover playlists take in what you’ve been listening to lately and what’s in your library and puts similar songs into your DW playlist.

I’ve been a fan of Jim Gaffigan for a while (I even own his book) and his albums give me life. He’s one of my favorite comedians ever and I love that I can listen to it all on Spotify! You guys need to listen to him, he is hilarious! Totally relateable while still being funny.

I love Lauryn’s blog, The Skinny Confidential, and have been following it for awhile. I’ve been listening to her playlists since episode 1 and I love it. Readers send in questions and Lauryn and Michael (and sometimes a few guests on the show) answer them. Her and Michael (which is Lauryn’s now-husband, they were engaged in the first few episodes) are so fun to listen to! Plus, they answer really relateable questions which you might find helpful.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this post! I, too, sometimes sleep with music in my ears. Funny story – I was in the hospital and just had major surgery. But even with all the drugs they had me on, I was unable to sleep. The constant door opening with a nurse coming in, the unfamiliar bed, the low lights, etc and me with a horrible case of insomnia. I was having a hard time getting the rest that I needed. So the next night I was prepared. I had my phone with my streaming music app and ear buds. I got into a comfy position, the phone was resting on my chest, the buds in my ears. I was able to close my eyes and let the music take me away, and eventually drift off to a deep sleep. I woke up a few hours later to a startled nurse and crew standing around me. I had become so relaxed, and because I was so tired, I was in a very deep sleep, so much that the nurse thought the machines had malfunctioned and I had coded.
